This website is here to help you make sense of your thoughts and feelings by offering expert guidance and support.

When Life Gives You a DNA Test, Expect the Unexpected.

DNA testing for family ancestry has become increasingly popular, with millions of people delving into their genetic history. However, alongside the intrigue of uncovering ancestral roots, some are confronted with shocking revelations that turn their world upside down.

Discovering that a parent isn’t your biological parent, or finding siblings you never knew existed, can bring a wave of confusion, hurt, and betrayal. These revelations often come wrapped in layers of secrecy, covered up by the people you love most. Often with shocking plot twists that leave you questioning everything you thought you knew.

We understand that this is more than just a revelation; it’s a life-altering event that can shake the very foundation of your identity.

Why We’re Here

In August 2024, BBC Radio 4’s Woman’s Hour highlighted the growing trend of DNA testing and the unexpected discoveries that often come with it. A listener, referred to as Sarah, shared her story of uncovering a non-paternity event in her fifties and expressed the growing need for support.

I’m Becky Walsh, though if we’re getting technical, my DNA father’s last name is Alliston. I found myself in the same boat. Shocked, confused, and wondering how on earth to process this new reality. With a background in personal development, coaching, and counselling, I realised I had the skills to create a place where others could find support.
